This swim wear collection was inspired by African Tribal culture. In doing research I was drawn to the jewelry, textures of clothing, and vivid colors of tribal culture. In my collection I wanted to create textures by incorporating my own hand crocheting into some of the pieces, as well as some hand beading details. In creating this collection it was important for me to create the whole look, not only the clothing. I pictured the type of woman that would wear the garment, and tried to imagine what she was doing and where she was going while wearing it. On the concept board I included a sample of my hand crocheting, some beading, as well as the technical swim wear fabrics that were used.
